General overview of the role:
Sanctuary Trust is seeking a flexible, committed, and compassionate individual to join our bank of support workers at Sanctuary House. As a Bank Support Worker, you will provide essential cover and support to our core team, evening and sleep-in-cover, weekend shifts which include sleep-in-cover.
This role involves primarily lone working once induction and training are complete, with a focus on supporting adult male residents progressing towards achieving independent living.
Main responsibilities:
- Provide shift cover at Sanctuary House during mornings, evening, and weekends.
- Ensure a consistent presence on-site during assigned shifts and respond to all enquiries from residents and third parties.
- Provide sleep-in cover as required.
- Support residents in developing life skills vital for independent living.
- Encourage participation in leisure and physical activities suited to individual interests and needs.
- Promote healthier lifestyle choices, including healthy eating.
- Carry out light cooking and general duties where necessary.
- Ensure building security protocols are followed, especially when finishing night shifts.
- Attend all mandatory and relevant training sessions as required.
- Participate in quarterly supervision meetings with your line manager.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold dignity, respect, compassion, and professional boundaries with all residents.
Candidate requirements:
- Minimum qualification: Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a small, committed team.
- Ability to make sound, on-the-spot decisions and demonstrate initiative.
- Empathy, open-mindedness, and a non-judgmental attitude towards individuals with a range of support needs.
- A positive, proactive approach to encouraging and motivating residents.
- Previous experience in the social care sector is advantageous.
- A good sense of humour is highly valued.

- This is a zero-hours position, offering flexible work based on organisational need.
- Sanctuary Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of adults at risk. Successful applicants will be required to complete a DBS check and a minimum of two references will be requested. If successful, you will also be expected to sign a confidentiality agreement before starting employment.
